The International Forum for Development Organizations participated in organizing a specialized scientific symposium titled “Digital Awqaf: Legitimacy, Applications, and Their Impact on Sustainable Development,” in partnership with the Kuwait Awqaf Public Foundation and the International Islamic Charitable Organization in Malaysia.
The symposium opened with remarks delivered by the Secretary-General of the International Forum for Development Organizations, Mr. Maamoun Al-Ashqar, who emphasized the importance of digital Awqaf as a modern and effective tool in supporting sustainable development pathways. He highlighted its growing role in enhancing the efficiency of endowment resource management and expanding development impact through the utilization of modern digital technologies.
The symposium witnessed the participation of a distinguished group of experts and professionals interested in development and endowment work, including Mr. Haitham Noubani, Eng. Abdul Rahim Taha, Mr. Mohammed Al-Sharafi, along with Mr. Maamoun Al-Ashqar, Dr. Imran Salem, Dr. Ahmad Al-Zeer, and several members of the International Forum for Development Organizations.
During the symposium sessions, participants discussed the jurisprudential and regulatory dimensions of digital Awqaf, mechanisms for implementation, and their role in supporting endowment and development projects. The discussions also highlighted contemporary models and experiences that utilize technology to serve endowments in alignment with modern developments and to strengthen the sustainability of endowment impact.
This symposium comes as part of the International Forum for Development Organizations’ efforts to promote scientific and professional dialogue on emerging issues in endowment and development work and to build effective partnerships that support the development of innovative and sustainable models that contribute to community development at both regional and international levels.
